HTS Coatings Attains ASME Section IX Weld Certification for Stellite® 6 Weld Overlays

We are thrilled to share the latest accomplishment in our journey of enhancing lives. HTS Coating has acquired ASME Section IX weld certification for some of our hardface weld overlays. Quality has always been a top priority for us, so this is just the cherry on top. Documenting and qualifying our weld procedures and welders adds another dimension to our commitment to being a one-stop coating provider for our customers. 

What is ASME Section IX Weld Certification? 

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) sets rigorous standards for welding procedures and welder performance in their Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code. The ASME Section IX is a portion of this document and certification to it validates that our welding practices meet these stringent criteria, ensuring the highest level of quality in our services. It was established in 1914 to regulate welding procedures for boiler and pressure vessels and has evolved to become an industry standard for many parts, including pump parts and valve components. 

Why Does ASME Section IX Matter? 

1. Quality Assurance:

ASME Section IX certification requires our welding procedures and individual welders to undergo rigorous testing to ensure repeatable, quality welds. We have certified our welders to apply Stellite® 6 weld overlays with GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and PAW (PTA) weld processes for the base material of 300 series stainless steel. 

2. Expanded Capabilities: 

We have been applying this weld overlay for years with excellence. This certification allows us to serve, not only new customers but our existing customers in new ways. This is yet another way we strive to have large company capabilities and small company care.

Our customers can now have increased confidence in all our welding capabilities. While not every weld overlay material we apply is certified, we approach each job with the same care and skill. This can bring peace of mind to anyone interested in any of our hardface weld overlays.
